USA´s Elections

Who shall be the next President of the most powerful country? Even though many of us are not residents of USA and can not vote, we will be affected by this year’s election.

In the Primary elections there are a wide range of candidates which try to catch voter’s attention, putting emphasis on different issues which cause tension. The struggle between security and privacy-freedom, ecology and industrial growth, between peace and security. Immigrants and minorities. How to deal with Iraq and terrorism, how to deal with the probable economic recession. More or less Government intervention? Should the private life of the candidates mater? Their faith and religious views?

Scholarship to USA

In Febuary I shall be traveling in USA, with FURP (http://www.furp.org.ar/Ingles.htm), an organization which promotes future political leaders.

After giving an exam and an interview I was chosen with 60 other young leaders from all round the country to participate of a Seminar, where we met with different leaders of our society: politicians, business men, journalists, labor union leaders, military men, ex presidents, etc. On the last day we had a Seminar, in which we had to present a random topic and defend it against a board who asked questions. Luckily I was one of the 10 people selected and shall have a similar experience in the USA, meeting with local and international leaders.

We shall be from the 9th to the 24th of Febuary in Austin, from the 24th to the 8th of March in Wshington DC and from then to the 14 the in New York. We shall be meeting leaders from different sectors and will have the chance to hear their experience and interview them.

Work in Foro Republicano

My vision is to help in the construction of an alternative party for Argentina.
In terms of a job, this will involve the recruitment of people: at universities, meeting with different organizations, associations, individuals. Going round the country, involving new honest people in politics and also trying to unite all the ones who are already working and share some basic ideas on individual rights, democracy and limited government, whoever’s goal is to work to make a better country and not only to get a safe public job.

Foro Republicano

This is a centre of critical thinking, aimed at solving the political problems of society. Foro Republicano is a newly formed not for profit organisation that is proud to receive only private funding.
There are currently a huge number of political parties in Argentina and our vision is to bring some/many of those together to form a more democratic and open party that can successfully govern Argentina. There is a desperate need for a viable alternative to the current political confusion. The first achievement of Foro Republicano to date is that it was the only party that made internal elections to select candidates for next June’s elections in the City of Buenos Aires.
As. Its next project is to change the by laws of the party to fulfil the requirements for a multiparty merger.

A Passion for Argentina

Argentina is a beautiful country, with a vast variety of landscapes, climates, as well as a interesting combination of sub cultures due to the diversity of people that live here. It has the excellent food, beautiful weather, friendly people and excellent natural resources. It was, not so long ago, a land of hope that received millions of immigrants looking for a better life, and became one of the richest countries on Earth.

But things aren’t so bright nowadays. After decades of terrible leadership, both democratic and military, poverty, corruption and insecurity have grown. Looking at the moral, social and economic declination of my beloved country in the last (70? 90?) years, I believe it is time a new generation of honest, brave and able people take the reigns of the country, in order to place once more as a land of hope and dreams. I want to be part of that generation, offering my talents, my work and my time.

In this Blog I shall be sharing some of my ideas and plans to try to make Argentina a better place.
